I was Inspired by a recent vacation to Hawaii to compose a scene for my Wind Waker Link project: ‘Hero of the Winds’. I added some Dramatic Lighting to Link, then placed him on a matte-painted background based around a photo I took of a beach.

The lighting and colour grading was intended to invoke a classical cinematic-feeling but remain stylized and punchy. I have very limited experience with actual colour grading film or photos, so just fiddled with channel curves until it felt right.
